Monika Grijalva, My Quincinera en Agua Prieta
Hi, I'm Monika Grijalva and this webblog is about my Quincinera on 16 Dec 2005 in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico. These pictures will give you a glimpse into the tradition of a Quincinera, or 15 year old party, that Mexican girls are given by their families. The Quincinera is a ceremony that celebrates the change of a girl to a woman, symbolized by the changing of shoes, from the flat shoes of a girl, to the high heels of a woman, and the presentation of this young woman to society.
I hope you enjoy these pictures of my Quincinera and my family in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico. I want to thank my mother, Cruz Grijalva. It's my mother's beauty, talent and intelligence that inspires me to be my personal best every day of my life. Thank you Mommy, te quiero mucho, I will make you proud. My love to my brothers, Jose, Alonzo and Alexis.
